The Swan Agency Sotheby’s International Realty and Cygnet Gallery Opening in Blue Hill.
Blue Hill, Maine- The Swan Agency Sotheby’s International Realty’s long awaited Blue Hill office is slated to open its doors July 30th. “It seems like it has been a long wait but we wanted it to be perfect,” said Kimberly Swan, the Company’s President.
The Swan Agency affiliated with Sotheby’s International Realty in May of 2006. At that time part of the agreement was that the Company have an office in Blue Hill to serve both The Swan Agency and the Sotheby’s International Realty® customers there. The hope was to be in place by November of 2006. The search for the perfect situation took longer than expected. Finally an exciting consideration arose when David Dodge, owner of a Blue Hill commercial building contacted operations manager Heidi Stanton-Drew and said he had the ideal spot for the new office. The vacant building at 9 Main Street offered not only a great location, but also the ability to share space with Cygnet Gallery and the opportunity to completely renovate a building in the village that has high visibility and could be made very attractive.
After many extensions through the winter for various issues, Bennett-Swan LLC, the Company’s landlord was finally able to close on June 1st of this year. Hoping to have a full season in the new space, the race was on to complete the renovation in record time. A complete change of the front of the building was inspired by a gallery space in Connecticut and adapted to this space by A-4 Architects. A-4 then designed an interior, exactly to the specifications of the Company that would include office space for The Swan Agency Sotheby’s International Realty and also beautiful gallery space for Cygnet Gallery. Cygnet Gallery began in Bar Harbor in 2002 and currently has locations attached to other Swan enterprises in the Art’s District of Portland and at Brunswick Inn on Park Row in Brunswick. “The combination of the Gallery and Real Estate office is seamless and so appropriate,” remarked Swan, “it is a natural combination.”
Contractors Jeff Young and Matt Smullen converted the space to what it is today in swift fashion and promised to have the group into the space by August 1st. Though the process took much longer than hoped, the results are worth it. “We were truly committed to doing the right thing for our clients and our brokers,” said Swan. “We already have many wonderful listings in the area and are very pleased to be able to provide a local office for these clients and a beautiful space to display these properties. It has been a long road but one that has been worth every moment of the wait to end up with this wonderful spot. I am very proud of everyone involved.”
Both The Swan Agency Sotheby’s International Realty and Cygnet Gallery will be open on July 30, 2007 - if not quietly a few days before. |
