Lori’s family comes from a number of hardworking, entrepreneurial islanders such as her great-great-great grandfather, island homesteader John Gilley. Raised in Northeast Harbor, Lori credits the cottages of her home town for fostering her curiosity and love of historical architecture, design, and building construction. She pursued these passions in college, studying business, marketing, construction technology, and interior design. During her senior year at Endicott College, during the completion of her final internship, she was hired out by the interdisciplinary design firm Sasaki Associates in Watertown, Massachusetts. Here, she began working in their interior design department and later, transferring into their sports design department where she worked on a number of national collegiate athletic facilities. Eventually, her desire to move home to Maine and near her aging parents came to fruition. For just over ten years Lori was a stay-at-home parent. Preparing to re-enter into the workforce she returned to Husson University as a full-time student receiving an undergraduate in Business and Liberal Studies. Lori advanced into the University’s Graduate School of Business and now one course from obtaining an M.B.A. Lori has a mixture of personal and professional experience in Real Estate with a number of her own transactions including redesigns, renovations, new construction, resale for profit and property management. Her experience with area nonprofits ranges from youth sports to antiquities. When not supporting and transporting her two sons, Lori enjoys exploring the trails and mountains of Acadia and meeting those along the way. After living in Ellsworth for just over ten years she was finally able to move home to MDI and now lives in the village of Town Hill.
