Swan Agency Kicks Off 50th Year Celebration

alt tag

On April 1, 1975, my father and mother (Cary and June Swan) opened The Swan Agency. The new office started in our dining room on Wayman Lane in Bar Harbor. The rapid success with so many friends and acquaintances supporting their new business and moving and buying insurance policies and buying and selling homes allowed them to move into a small office at 43 Cottage Street. As the business continued to succeed through their hard work and especially their devotion to their clients and customers, they were soon able to purchase the entire building in late 1976 and create today’s Swan Block.

As April 1, 2024 actually starts our 50th year in business, we are starting the celebration now and continuing it through the next year until we hit the big day, the golden anniversary. Just wait to see what we have in store for the big day. There will be cake! We have lots of fun plans through this year with our past and current clients and customers, our communities and non-profit groups and lots of looks back over the last 50 years. For those of you who have been around for the long haul and remember the iconic Christmas parties, the Swan Block before the ‘80s renovation and even those who remember starting their Swan Agency relationship in the Wayman Lane dining room - there will be some wonderful laughs and fond memories.

I am blessed and thankful to have grown the company to where we are today and the pleasure and honor to be a part of the best team ever assembled. I am especially proud and thankful to my parents who had the faith, the ambition, the love of thiscommunity and the foresight to launch this eponymous company and enable me and my amazing colleagues to guide it into it’s 50th year.

Our thanks to all who have been a part of our journey and will be a part of our future. Stay tuned for a fun and grateful year full of surprises and appreciation.

Very Sincerely,

Kim Swan
